Logan County receives millions in funding for a variety of projects

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky.- Logan County is receiving almost $34 million to help with a variety of projects.

Adairville and Lewisburg have received funds to address the pressing issues of wastewater processing.

The Logan County Fiscal Court has received $3 million Tuesday to address quality of life issues, like parks, and the Logan County School District has received $2 million for equipment and upgrades to the Logan County Career and Technology Center.

News 40 spoke with state Rep. Jason Petrie, who says these funds come from the budget reserve trust fund, built over time to make investments in the community.

Petrie says, “This is the first time in Kentucky’s history that we’ve had a house bill one that did the following, made investments out of the budget reserve trust fund that had been built up, just like you might in your house or in a business. You build up funds so you can make investments. Commonwealth is doing the same thing, we’re making sure our budget is effective and efficient on the operational side so, we can build up those reserve accounts, so we can make investments, just like everybody else.”

Because this funding will affect all parks in Logan County, officials recommend being involved with your magistrates and the local community to have conversations about what the community needs and share ideas of what would benefit the community most.
