Battle of the Badges breaks record for blood donations
GLASGOW, Ky.- Glasgow law enforcement agencies had a friendly competition, making a massive donation for the city and surrounding communities.
The Glasgow Fire Department, Glasgow Police Department and EMS all gathered together to see if they could pass their goal of 27 units and reach 35 units of blood. This broke the record for the largest amount of blood donated.
News 40 spoke with the fire chief William Rock about how this impacts the people who need blood most.
He says, “I get calls daily because they are so short on blood and this blood goes everywhere, disasters people in need are just really short on blood.”
In the end, the Glasgow Fire Department won the Battle of the Badges, and they want to encourage anyone that is able to give blood to do so. This act of kindness costs nothing and could help save a life. For more details on how you can donate blood visit https://www.bloodassurance.org/.
