Startup Garden hosted by BG Chamber to help Spanish businesses in the community

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce hosted a way for members of the Spanish community to help improve their businesses.

It’s called a Startup Garden, and it allowed business owners to hear from those in the community who are successful to learn about how they can implement new strategies to make their businesses bloom.

The evening at Garcia’s included hearing from Osmany Portales of Portales Building & Remodeling, who talked about how he started his business.

One business owner told us even though he’s been here for years, he’s inspired by Osmany’s story.

“Seeing how quickly Osmany was able to develop his business within the span of eight years. It was really inspiring, so it just really, really brings to mind that there’s a lot of untapped potential within us and within the businesses that we already run or that we’re looking to establish, and just how much larger and how much stronger we can get,” Jose Gonzalez with Mercadito Hispano says.

South Central Workforce Development Board member Laura Torres also told us she works with the Chamber for events like these, and she loved hearing the story of someone who came to this country with experience but no resources, as well as how he was able to make it to where he is currently.
