BGHS sells personalized pieces of old court as renovations begin

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – There are 34 years’ worth of memories on the court of Bowling Green High School.

As the renovations begin to replace the floor, anyone who wants to remember the history can get their own personalized piece of the court, and the orders are already stacking up.

BGHS boys’ basketball coach D.G. Sherrill reflected on his best memories on the court and shared what he wants to do with his piece.

“I wish I could get all the guys that have come through there and played for me to sign my piece of the floor because as I look at pictures of old teams and things, I think the floor means to me what all the guys I’ve seen that bled, sweat, worked on that court and accomplished things,” Sherrill said. “As a basketball coach, you get to sit there and watch these young men achieve things. They take you for a ride. And I think that’s what it means to me is like, wow, what a cool experience to be able to own a little piece of what we worked on every day. We were there every day working on that and to have a piece of that is pretty cool.”
