Allen County Primary Center receives grant to add 5 additional STEM courses

Scottsville, KY.- Allen County Primary Center has received a grant from Project Lead the Way, that will add 5 new stem courses into the curriculum.

The typical elementary school offers just 5 traditional arts classes, and with the help of this grant, the Allen County Primary Center will have 10 related arts courses, some of which students don’t usually see until they reach the high school level.

Principal of Allen County Primary Center, Leah Renfrow, says, “Allen County Primary Center has the opportunity to create learners that are more ready for the workforce as they move forward, and starting that out younger, and enhancing those skills at a younger age really helps engage not only their academic areas, but their soft skills, their ability to solve problems and conflicts, and to engage with different modes of learning.”

The grant will also impact the teachers, community, and school district.  The STEM courses will address all areas through discovery, projects, and hands-on learning, and will allow students to explore areas like agriculture, robotics, and performing arts.
