Bowling Green High School Welcomes New Cross Country Coach

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Purples cross country team welcomed in its next head coach, Cort Basham, the school announced at the end of last week.

Basham has been involved with Purples runners for the past ten years, and now he gets to take the helm for a program that has, historically, seen a lot of success, which he is looking to restore.
Monday, he shared why leading this school was such an easy decision for him.
“I’ve been here for almost 30 years. I love this city, I love the school system, I love our kids, and I love running and I get to put all those together,” Basham said. “Coaching is really just an extension of my teaching. It’s my favorite thing to do and I’m looking to share that with some younger kids, as well as my college students.”
