June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month: how to help locally

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness for a serious disease.

There are some ways for those that have it to stay as active as possible… whether that’s through physical activity or finding a hobby to keep your brain sharp.

For family members of those affected, it’s a huge responsibility to take care of your loved one.

The chair of the local Walk to End Alzheimer’s also helps out at Massey Springs Senior Living in Bowling Green, and she told us how important it is to spread awareness during this month.

“When a family member, whether they have a child or a parent who gets diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia, they often… become the caregiver for them and it affects their life daily… and, you know, we’re just fighting for this to hopefully one day find a cure and just letting all the families know out there that we are there for them,” Kayla Goodman says.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s takes place on September 28th, but it’s not too late to make a team.
