Simpson County storm damage assessment

FRANKLIN, Ky. – News 40 was able to head to Simpson County earlier Monday to see some of the damage.

There were downed trees, even some that were uprooted because of the storms.

In some neighborhoods, they even saw some downed power lines.

Judge Executive Mason Barnes says even though cleanup is expected to take a while, he’s proud to see the community coming together once again.

“I’m seeing neighbors helping neighbors and residents coming from other areas and helping out to just get things cleaned up. The cleanup effort just from the trees and debris alone, not to mention the worst… it’s going to have to be done on some of the structures, just the cleanup from it… it is going to be several days, if not weeks,” he says.

He also told us he went out into the community to assess some of the damage, and saw that a tree had fallen onto a home.

He has reported no one was injured in this or any incident related to the weather from this weekend.
