Memorial Day Murph at Crossfit Old School

BOWLING GREEN, KY.- Running miles upon miles completing hundreds of squats pull-ups and push-ups during Memorial day at Crossfit Old School was all to honor and remember Lieutenant Michael Murphy.

Erin Richter, a coach and the owner of Crossfit Old School shares a part of the journey, “It was never meant to be Memorial Day, Murph. It was the family who approached CrossFit to put this workout together. it just organically, as the years have gone by, CrossFit just said, hey, let’s do this every year and let’s do it on Memorial Day. ”

Michael Thurman, a grandfather who was supporting his grandson shares how this event not only gave people the chance to pay respect, it also unites the community.

He says, “You know, our country’s going through a lot of difficulties right now, and I just this is another opportunity for people to pull together and put all that aside and, and celebrate together as a country”

Erin also shares her perspective and why it’s important to understand the value of remembering those we lost. She says, “It’s after tragedy. Our world comes together, and it doesn’t need to be that way. We need to remember that it’s because of the soldiers. It’s because of things. And we need to just come together all the time and not wait for tragedy… It’s not just CrossFit anymore that does this. So many other gyms, you know, and that’s what it’s about. It’s not CrossFit. It’s just about honoring”
