Bowling Green Freedom Walkers aim to connect community during weekend event

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Uniting the community is important, and not everyone can afford to attend some annual events.

This weekend, the Bowling Green Freedom Walkers are kicking off the summer season by hosting their annual Connecting with Our Community event, providing a good time with resources, games and food, all for free.

LeMegan Shelton, director of operations for the BG Freedom Walkers, says, “People have heard of the Freedom Walkers, but maybe in the sense that, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s those kids that go protest,’ but we do so much more. We just want to continue connecting people and resources and getting to know everybody. We just, you know, we kind of represent those, those marginalized people.”

The Connecting Our Community event will be this Saturday starting at 3 p.m. at Parker Bennet Ball Courts.
