Linderman wins Democratic nomination as U.S. representative in Kentucky’s 2nd Congressional District

SOUTH-CENTRAL KENTUCKY – Results are in for Kentucky’s 2nd Congressional District.
According to unofficial results, Hank Linderman has won the nomination to be the United States representative in Congress for Kentucky’s 2nd Congressional District.
Linderman won with 11,726 votes (57.6%), while his opponent, William Dakota Compton, received 8,640 votes (42.4%).
Following his win Tuesday night, Linderman released the following statement:
“Being a candidate is difficult, and important. And winning isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, especially in these terrible times of division. We seem to celebrate those who throw the most anger. I will not be doing that, not to Congressman Guthrie, not to Republicans, Independents or Democrats. America needs to behave more like a family again.”
“I think the Democratic party needs to change, actually both of our parties do, but the only one any of us might be able to change for the better is our own. I’d like to see the Democratic Party return to unequivocal support for people who work, wherever they live, and to address the unbalanced relationship between rural and urban America. That’s a serious problem that has negative consequences for all of us.
“I’d like to ask any Kentuckians who would like to meet with me, to invite me to your church, to your county party meetings, to your neighborhood cookout. I have much to learn from you, and I look forward to becoming friends.
“I believe we need to move away from division, confrontation, hate, anger and war – and towards neighborliness, shared community, repair, love and peace. I believe in us, I believe in Kentucky, I believe in America. God bless us all, now let’s all please get to work fixing things.”
