WKU enrollment is down compared to last year

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- School officials are noticing a decline in enrollment, compared to the fall semester of 2018.

The total enrollment headcount for the fall semester of 2019 is sitting at 18,183. That’s 1,278 less than last year.

School officials are saying that some of the reasons for the enrollment decline are due to more students opting to go into the workforce after high school, in addition to smaller high school graduating classes.

Despite the dip in enrollment, director of media relations Bob Skipper said the graduation rate is still sitting at a good number.

“We are doing a lot of good things on the hill. That means that the University is focused on recruiting students who have a good chance of completing their degrees and doing everything possible to help them get to that point,” Skipper said.
