Thunderfest moving to new location this summer
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – BG Thunderfest, presented by the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club, is one of the most popular fireworks shows in South Central Kentucky.
However, due to recent changes at their previous location, the Corvette Museum Amphitheater, they’re changing locations.
The reason why these changes are taking place is due to construction happening in the area.
Previously, the fireworks were shot behind a line of trees near the amphitheater. That area is now going to be home to some apartments.
That now leads to some sound ordinances and not being able to shoot fireworks so close to these new apartments.
“Of course, safety is our number one priority for Thunderfest. There are restrictions because of that… on how close we can be to certain structures, especially residential or apartment structures,” said Whitney Kinslow, co-chair for BG Thunderfest.
Kinslow also says the new location at Ephram White Park will have more parking than the amphitheater, as well as two exits after the show to streamline traffic.
Kinslow urges attendees to give this new location a chance.
