Franklin-Simpson Sends Two Teams to the State Bass Fishing Tournament
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This past weekend out on Lake Barkley, a couple more local bass fishing teams advanced to the state tournament.
“This is the first trophy, I think, for Franklin in a case for fishing,” Cook said, “and I’m just glad that it’s us, because another ironic thing is that it’s our first year on the team, too, which I think is amazing.”
“We’re kind of like role models, I feel like, because we were the first girls on the bass team and to win something,” Gregory said. “I just feel like girls later on will look up, because a lot of girls, I mean, me personally, I thought bass fishing was for boys, and I was really scared to join, and I mean, here we are now.”
“[I’m] pretty excited,” Alexander said. “The past couple years, I’ve missed a chance to go to state by like a couple ounces, so, pretty happy being able to get the job done this year.”
“I’ve had the opportunity to go to regionals for the past three years now, and last year I missed about five ounces,” Tyree said. “Determination was really there this year, so, glad we got it done.”
