Allen County-Scottsville High School teacher’s work published by Harvard

ALLEN COUNTY, KY.- A teacher in Allen County is going above and beyond to reach students globally. She’s creating new content, and it’s being published by Harvard.

Erica Lambert, a Science teacher and a lab exchange ambassador was selected along with 19 other teachers in the nation to develop accessible lessons for teachers and students.

She says, “Harvard is collecting, really quality high end, resources that are available online and kind of putting them in one place. So I’ll have the ability to like, mentor students or people globally who see my work there and want to connect with me.”

This connection isn’t just impacting the students, it’s also motivating other science teachers. Cameron Cook, a physics teacher says, “Anytime that our teachers here get recognized, it’s definitely deserving, but definitely for, Erica, she’s been such a hard worker throughout any school that she’s been at. No matter what she’s teaching. and she’s always wanted to be the best at her craft.”

As technology advances, Mr. Lambert is keeping up with the times. She’s taking her lessons out of the classroom and placing them online. It’s not always easy finding ways to be the best for your students, but that didn’t stop Ms. Lambert. She tells us about her journey. She says, “it’s been kind of hard to navigate the new science standards since they were put out in about 2013. A lot of the resources that are out there are not up to date or modern with those standards… As teachers, we want to make sure that every resource we put in front of students is really targeted to what’s important for them to learn to be successful post education, post to the classroom.”

Ms. Lambert inspires her students so much, that her former student is following in her footsteps. Cameron tells us, “She works hard for the kids because she keeps them at the forefront of her mind.”
