Love & Grace Foundation set to bring awareness during National Foster Care Day
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – May 7 is National Foster Care Day, and a newer nonprofit plans to celebrate all across south-central Kentucky.
The Love & Grace Foundation is hosting three events throughout the day Tuesday at the Barren County YMCA, Franklin Community Church and Southern Lanes in Bowling Green.
Each location will offer different fun activities, such as a gym maze, a bounce house and playground and a night of bowling and laser tag.
But it’s about more than just having fun for the foster children – it helps foster parents learn about resources they may not know about in the community.
“As a foster parent myself, events like this are imperative to bring everyone together here to network, to support each other, to find out what resources are now available and to bring our kids together so they know they’re not alone in this,” Kerri Mercer of the Love & Grace Foundation says.
At the Barren County YMCA, there will be the gym maze, plus prize drawings, a pizza party and a chance to get a free YMCA membership. This will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
In Simpson County, a bounce house and playground, along with face painting and a dance party, will be at Franklin Community Church from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Finally, at Southern Lanes, kids can have fun bowling, playing laser tag and riding the bumper cars from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The Love & Grace Foundation will also host their grand opening on May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1366 Kenton Street here in Bowling Green, which will include a look at their multi-room foster closet boutique, “layover suite” and more.
