Drivers urged to use caution Sunday during annual BG Marathon

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Hundreds of runners are set to pound the pavement Sunday for the annual BG Marathon and Half Marathon.

The race begins at 7 a.m. at Bowling Green Ballpark and goes through downtown Bowling Green and the Western Kentucky University campus.

Motorists are being advised to use caution.

Fairview Avenue will go from four lanes to two. The lanes closest to the sidewalk will be closed to traffic.

In addition, the University Boulevard right-hand lane will be closed to traffic during the race.

The lane closures may last up to six hours, but no roads will be entirely shut down.

Proceeds from the race benefit multiple sclerosis research.
