Bowling Green High School teaches practical living skills with Flex Day
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Students at Bowling Green High School learned some practical lessons on Wednesday for life outside of the classroom.
The school’s new Flex Day program focuses on practical living skills. From automotive lessons to laundry, students got a chance to be better prepared for the future.
The program kicked off for the seventh time this year.
Kyle McGraw, principal at Bowling Green High School, says, “We are preparing students not only for college and learning math, science, social studies and that sort of thing, but also preparing students for life after high school. And, so, that’s what we try to take on on these flex Wednesdays.”
It gives students a chance to attend these lessons in place of normal class once a month, offering the entire school a chance to learn something new, McGraw says.
Katie Blair, a freshman at BGHS, says, “I thought it was really cool, like learning about, like, how I do practical, like, day to day stuff.”
Other rotations included cooking and home maintenance, along with safety tips.
BGHS seniors are set to graduate on Sunday, May 26. With today’s lessons, they are one step closer to being prepared for what lies ahead.
