SKY Soccer Spring Classic Tournament set to take place this weekend
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – May 4 & 5, SKY Soccer welcomes teams from around the region to compete in their Sky Spring Classic Tournament.
This will be the 30th edition of the tournament for all ages, with teams coming from throughout the Commonwealth, as well as Ohio, Indiana, Missouri and Tennessee to compete.
While the tournament is just a competition for younger age groups, teams aged 16 and older that play have the chance to get scouted by colleges throughout the region, all thanks to WKU’s soccer team.
“It’s a pretty big opportunity for them. A lot of teams have to travel really far and pay a lot of money to go to a showcase tournament, but Coach Neidell is awesome and he helps bring in some of these scouts from the area so that they can get some exposure to some of these D2 and kind of smaller schools but Coach Neidell is out there for his women’s soccer program, and it’s just a great opportunity,” tournament director Keiliah Prater says.
The derby themed tournament takes over the Lovers Lane Soccer Complex with 8 to 19-year-old teams taking part.
