Historic trail from 1930s uncovered at Mammoth Cave National Park
MAMMOTH CAVE, KY.- At Mammoth Cave National Park, you never know what you’ll find, especially with hundreds of years of undiscovered history.
The Morrison-Era Trail had been covered by a layer of dirt since the 1930s, and thanks to some construction, the historic surprise was discovered and is now restored.
Molly Schrorer, the Public Information Officer at Mammoth Cave says, ” The great thing about this trail is you can now see it on one of our tours. Instead of covering it over with our new trail, we ended up incorporating it into the design. So as our groups go through there, we can show them this old historic trail, talk about the early tourism and exploration of this area of Kentucky.”
You can see the preserved Morrison-Era trail on the domes cave tours, dripstones and the grand avenue tours. This will give tourists a glimpse of history at Mammoth Cave National Park.
