6-year-old girl bakes cookies to fund heart surgery
Franklin, Ky.- What started as a Facebook post now has one six-year-old baking hundreds of cookies. Paislee Howard recently found out that she needs open heart surgery next month, and to help with hospital expenses, she is taking orders and baking cookies.
Paislee’s mother, Alyssa Howard, says “We didn’t want to reach out to people just to ask for money, but we wanted to show her how to earn her own money but also do it in a way that the community will want to help.”
In three days, Paislee has taken over 300 orders, made over 40 dozen cookies, and has delivered cookies to many businesses in the area. “The amount of support that we had from people that didn’t know her from Adam, was unreal. I mean we have people reaching out from other areas of Kentucky that she doesn’t know, and probably won’t know.”
The community continues to reach out, donate, rally around Paislee, and lift her up as she prepares for surgery. “It is the most genuine love from this community and I am so proud to be a part of it, and Paislee is so proud to be a part of it too.”
Paislee, says, “Thank you for buying these cookies from me, and helping all of me get my heart surgery.” Paisley will have her open heart surgery in May.
