Saying thanks to dispatchers, National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This week, we’re saying thank you to those on the other line taking response calls every day.

News 40 spoke to Nicole Mann, Public Safety Telecommunicator III with the Kentucky State Police, who said it’s nice but she could do without the thanks. Mann told us she doesn’t do it for recognition, she just wants to do her part to help.

“It’s not for everyone” she said, recalling 20 years of experience. Mann separates herself from the call just like all telecommunicators do, trying not to take anything personal and stay calm in at times chaotic situations. She said it’s tough some days but she knows she’s making a difference one call at a time and that’s enough for her.
