TJ Regional Health providing Narcan to Barren, Hart & Metcalfe Counties
GLASGOW, Ky. – TJ Regional Health has been awarded funding to provide Narcan throughout South Central Kentucky.
The Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention, or ASAP, Coalition has received over $30,000 to purchase doses of Narcan.
There will be over 900 doses along with 15 opioid rescue kits that will be available in Barren, Hart & Metcalfe Counties.
These will be available free to businesses, organizations and individuals in these counties.
Daniel Bragg, the ASAP Coalition coordinator, stresses how important having these doses and kits are.
“I like to say you don’t have to be an addict to overdose. I also like to say that Narcan is like a fire extinguisher. Most of us have them whenever we need them… but in the event of an emergency that allows us the precious seconds and minutes that we need to get life saving care that you have to have to overcome these overdoses,” he says.
The ASAP Coalition will also offer training on proper use of Narcan upon request.
You can reach out to TJ Regional Health for more information on this training.
