Warren County Parks and Rec gives tips on staying prepared for severe weather
WARREN COUNTY, Ky.- Severe weather can happen at any time, and being prepared for the unexpected can save you and your family.
There’s often a possibility of an unpredictable weather watch turning into a severe weather warning, and being as prepared as possible is a top priority.
News 40 spoke with Warren County Parks and Recreation and learned the value of using resources like weather radios and storm shelters to stay as safe as possible during severe weather.
Chris Kummer, the director of Warren County Parks and Recreation, says, “Within 20 minutes of a watch being issued, we have staff in all eight of our county shelters, so if we have a tornado watch this issue, don’t wait for the storms to start rolling through. There’s usually some time between the activation of a watch to when the severe weather may get here.”
Getting to a storm shelter sooner rather than later can save you and your family’s life. Storm shelters will be open during any severe storm. You can find more information, you can get the latest updates on weather by downloading the WNKY Weather app.
