City of Bowling Green declares April Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- As we wrap up March, we are heading right into Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.
Hope Harbor and the City of Bowling Green came together to officially proclaim April as Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month on Tuesday.
Melissa Whitley, the executive director of Hope Harbor, tells us that this is not just a month. It’s also an opportunity to spread knowledge and give people the chance to share their experiences.
She also says, “Sexual violence is something that isn’t always talked about, and so having an awareness or prevention month for sexual assault and sexual violence starts to have people understand that we have to start having conversations to end the epidemic that happens in our communities.”
Whipley shares that sexual violence has no age limit and affects those young and old. If you are struggling with any form of trauma or you know someone struggling, Hope Harbor is ready and willing to help fight against sexual assault trauma.
