Warren County Sheriff’s Office introduces new drones to help in many scenarios
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A new addition to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office is set to make their jobs a lot easier.
A new set of drones will help deputies out in many ways, like searching for suspects, accident reconstruction and other situations where they are deemed necessary.
One example Sheriff Brett Hightower said was using them to de-escalate situations where deputies aren’t able to easily access the suspect.
Three deputies are already certified through the FAA as pilots that can fly these drones.
Hightower also says how important these additions are for the department.
“When you can recreate what happened when you weren’t there and for people to see it and for the possibility to use it prosecutorial… to bring that to a jury, to be able to see exactly what happened and let people better understand that… it is just a great tool to have,” he says.
These can also be used for silver alerts when people go missing in rural environments that deputies can’t easily access on foot.
The Sheriff’s Office is excited to start using these whenever they’re needed.
