WKU on track to offer doctorate courses
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – An opportunity to earn the highest level of college education could be coming soon to Western Kentucky University
On Friday afternoon, House Bill 630 moved through the Kentucky General Assembly.
If passed, the bill will allow WKY to offer five doctoral degrees.
WKU has been active in Frankfort, Kentucky this week to lobby for the bill and promote the specific doctoral programs.
“These are things like data sciences, computational sciences, neurosciences, and they directly connect to the companies that were recruiting here at the innovation campus, and to the future of the Bowling Green and south central Kentucky economies,” WKU president Dr. Timothy Caboni says.
Caboni says adding the programs will do a few things, like transform WKU faculty recruitment, increase the number of federal dollars and investment into the university and create an opportunity to elevate WKU in the region.
