Butler County Boys and Girls Club new technology and educational opportunities

BUTLER COUNTY, Ky. – Technology is becoming a necessity now more than ever, and the Boys and Girls Club in Butler County has added a wide variety of technology.

The president of the board of directors for the Butler County Boys and Girls Club, Bruce White, shares that he saw a way to help trade workers and for the students.

White says, “Any industry factory, small business, large business will tell you that there is a big shortage in the workforce. That’s what we want to train kids in this community to have good, high-paying jobs early on in life. “

To motivate the teens to come, they installed state of the art gaming systems and simulators.

“We’re just not all about gaming,” White says. “We’re more about trying to train these middle school and high school kids to go on the job force, to be able to make a living, to be good, productive citizens.”

Derrick Deen, the teen director of the Boys and Girls Club, shares what motivates him.

He says, “Knowing that I can bring kids here and be a part, let them be a kid, first of all, but also play a, you know, just a big part in there, you know, workforce development and professional development. That’s sort of the key idea here.”

The Teen Center is officially open upgraded and filled with fun and the chance to learn. To see more of what the Butler County Boys and Girls Club has to offer visit their Facebook page
