Lawmakers file bill to curb drag performances in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WAVE) – Lawmakers in Kentucky are filing legislation focused on regulating adult-themed businesses.
Sponsors of the bill say this will prevent sexually explicit events or activities from happening near children.
By their definition, adult-themed businesses include sexually explicit book and video stores, arcades and cabarets.
This legislation is similar to a bill that did not pass last year, which was aimed at preventing drag queen performances around kids.
The Fairness Alliance says this legislation appears to be an attack on LGBTQ+ people.
Officials there also say comparable bills like this one were previously ruled unconstitutional in other states.
