Tips to thaw your pipes

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- If your pipes have already frozen there are some things you can do right now to help them thaw out. With extremely low temperatures, pipes freezing is becoming more of an issue.

Experts tell us to be careful if you are planning to blow dry your frozen pipes. Whether you have copper or lead pipes, blow drying your pipes is not the best recommendation, experts highly recommend you let nature take its course.

Along with letting your sink drip we learned from Mike Collins, the general manager plumbing service Stewart Richey Service Group that there are several steps you can take before this becomes an issue.

Collins says, “People not closing the vents to the crawl space. That’s that’s one of the biggest ones. It’s even possible that water meters were not originally installed deep enough. Those can freeze as well when the ground temperature is very cold. So you just want to make sure everything’s done correctly. ”
