The Annual Club Christmas Party at the Boys and Girls Club of Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Thanks to a lot of help from members of the community, the Boys and Girls Club is bringing Christmas joy to Bowling Green.
For 35 years, Boys and Girls Club has hosted the annual club Christmas party. The kids filled out a wish list, and with help from several donations, Christmas came a little early.
CEO Liz Bernard- Clark says, “Listen this is a huge undertaking but it is worth it when you see those faces of the kids. One of our teens was balling tears of joy because they had got what they asked for.”
Many parents recognize the value of having the support of the community. One mom describes what this night means to her.
Kysha Bailey says, “It’s a blessing. It’s a family blessing. It feels amazing to know that the community reaches out and actually comes through whatever it’s needed.”
The impact was major not only for parents. For children who may not always be able to get things that they like for Christmas, this means so much.
Kamoure Bankston a Boys and Girls Club teen says, “I felt happy, joyful, surprised because we got stuff that other kids can’t get.” The joy doesn’t just stop at the kids who get the gifts. She also shared the joy that was brought to her mom and stepdad. She says “Everyone left with happiness.”
The Boys and Girls Club is not stopping at Christmas. They have so much in store for the new year.
