Conveyor belt manufacturer to invest $2 million in Simpson County facility

FRANKLIN, Ky.- Smiley Monroe, a producer of conveyor belts, has announced plans to invest $2 million in a Simpson County manufacturing facility.

It’s is the Irish company’s first North American operation, according to a news release from Gov. Matt Bevin’s Office.

The new facility will create 30 full-time jobs and 27 of those positions are allocated for Kentucky residents.

The company plans to lease a 63,000 sq. ft. building in Franklin, where company leaders expect to begin production by January 2020.
