Free ice skating is coming to Glasgow, Kentucky at Gorin Park
GLASGOW, Ky.- If you’re looking for something fun to do while on winter break, look no further than a unique opportunity in Barren County. After three years of trying, an ice skating rink is coming to Glasgow.
River Lake Church and Glasgow Parks and Recreation are bringing three nights of free ice skating. Along with ice skating, there will also be several surprises that you don’t want to miss.
Although this night will be filled with fun, the main goal is to help those who may be facing difficult times. The creative mind behind this free opportunity for the community is Heather Harper, kids director at River Lake Church.
Harper is always eager to find fun and helpful ways to give back to her community. She says, “I was like, ‘my goodness, could you imagine if we brought that to this town?’ Who knew? But it was possible. And I thought, ‘if we can make that happen for our community, especially in this season, it is our hope in initiative.’ It’s a big part of that this year. And the goal with that is to bring joy and hope and a time that is really hard.”
On Dec. 18, 19 and 20, the rink will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. For more details, click here.
