Recalled chicken served at schools in Barren County; no students sickened

GLASGOW Ky.- The Barren County School District is alerting parents that their children may have consumed chicken from a company that just issued a recall.

The chicken from Tip Top Poultry was recently recalled due to possible listeria contamination.

The diced chicken was served during the months of August and September before the schools received the note that the chicken may be contaminated.

Fortunately, there are no reports of any illnesses.

School officials say as soon as they heard about the recall, they immediately took action.

“We have a fantastic team that’s always focused on the good of our students, always making sure that they have something wonderful to eat. Yesterday was just a prime example of the professionalism that our staff shows each and every day,” said Barren County Schools Director of Food and Nutrition Services, CheyAnne Fant.

All of the chicken that was listed in the recall has now been removed from the Barren County cafeterias.
