A shaky exhibit at a local museum

BOWLING GREEN, Ky- The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green is probably best known for fast cars and a notorious sinkhole. But there’s a new exhibit that goes beyond both of those. It’s about earthquakes.

Mariah Hughes, the Media and Communications Director for the museum says the goal of the When the Earth Shakes exhibit is to provide an educational opportunity that goes beyond Corvettes for elementary school-age museum visitors. She tells WNKY News the exhibit includes information on plate tectonics, how earthquakes happen and also about tsunamis after earthquakes occur.

The exhibit has interactive elements such as a shake table that allows visitors to construct buildings and then test them against simulated quakes and a tsunami tank that shows how buildings can be affected by the giant waves after an earthquake happens. The exhibit will be at the National Corvette Museum through the end of the year.
