Best Selling Author shares his story with BGJHS Students

Bowling Green, KY.- An ultra-marathon runner turned author visited Bowling Green Junior High to share the story of how a 155-mile race changed his life. During the race, author Dion Leonard met his best friend, Gobi, a pup who ran nearly 80 miles of the race with him, inspiring him to write a book about his journey.

In his past races, Leonard’s goal was to win and be the best, but after running alongside Gobi, his goal changed. He wanted to continue this friendship with Gobi far after the finish line. Leonard told students of his experience and even brought Gobi with him.

After the race, many heard of this impactful story, leading Gobi and Leonard to have lots of attention on them. Dion Leonard says there was “A huge interest from everyone all around the world, and in the publishing world. Everyone wanted to write the book and wanted me to write the book about the story with Gobi, so it was phenomenal to see just how much love there was for this little dog and sharing her story.”

Gobi and Leonard are visiting schools all around the U.S. to share their story. The book is available on many reading levels, the main edition, a picture book for elementary and preschool students, and a chapter book for middle and high schoolers. This story “Finding Gobi” will also soon be turned into a Hollywood Movie.
