UK ‘Kentucky Can’ Capital Campaign reaches $2.1B grant to make education more accessible

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The largest fundraising campaign in the history of the commonwealth reached its $2 billion goal and is making education more accessible to students.

The University of Kentucky launched the “Kentucky Can” Campaign. Over 160,000 supporters from Kentucky counties contributed to this campaign.

It creates thousands of scholarships to make further education more accessible to students across the commonwealth. The president of the University of Kentucky, Eli Capilouto, shares that this is not just monumental for the institution.

He says, “We recognize that we have to have more Kentuckians, well-skilled, ready to lead lives of meaning and purpose to advance Kentucky, that is not just here in Lexington, but you can find across the state.”

The campaign was launched back in 2018 and will impact so many people beyond the classroom. The president also shares that this investment will impact the future generations to come.

A portion of the funding will also go towards developing new programs at the University of Kentucky.
