Voter registration deadline is approaching

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Election Day is nearly a month away, which means there is less than a week to register to vote if you have not done so already.

The deadline for voter registration is Oct. 10 at 4 p.m., and no changes can be made after that time.

If you are voting with a mail-in ballot or absentee ballot, those deadlines are closer to the end of October. Early Voting will take place the week before the election. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7, and Warren County will have 12 locations available for voting.

Officials tell us the turnout has been low during recent elections, and are hoping for an increase in turnout this election cycle. Warren County Clerk, Lynette Yates, says

“The Secretary of State is calling turnout in the mid-forties. That’s pretty average for what we see in General Elections. The last gubernatorial election had a 46% turnout. That was the Bevin, Beshear race, so I think turnout is going to be somewhere in the mid or low forties, and that is what we should expect here.”

Keep an eye out for posters hanging around the community, with a QR code taking you to the voter registration website, that’s govotte.ky.gov.
