The Local Good Mini Market bridging the gap between food and the community
BOWLING GRREN, Ky.- Kentucky’s first low-waste grocery store is bridging the gap between local businesses and communities across south central Kentucky.
The Local Good Mini Market is bringing an innovative twist to grocery stores, giving many communities the chance to taste fresh local foods to expand and outsource rice, beans, granola and so much more from many other states.
The co-owner of the Local Good Market, Alex Hezik says, “In Bowling Green itself, there are gaps in our local food system, and we also want to support local people as much as we can, because often times in the United States, zero waste or low waste stores, they provide mostly stuff in bulk, but supporting local makers is not always the top priority.”
Not only providing natural resources for people to eat, it’s giving people the chance to recycle things like glass, plastic and paper bags to help the environment.
The market is also giving people with SNAP benefits access to fresher foods they normally wouldn’t have access to at a typical grocery store.
