Woman tells deputies her nephew stole her car
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green woman told Warren County Sheriff’s deputies Sunday that her nephew broke into her home and stole her car and cash.
The woman told deputies she woke up Sunday morning and found Jeffrey Copas, 29, asleep on the couch in her attached sunroom at her Dye Ford Road home. She left the home to go for a walk. When she returned from her walk, Copas was gone along with her car and $900, according to his arrest citation.
Tuesday, the woman received a call from another relative that Copas was at her Cemetery Road home with the Jeep. Deputies took Copas into custody.
He is charged with second-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking of an automobile and first-degree criminal mischief. He was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
Warren District Judge John Brown set his bond at $1,000.
