Code Red at Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s not something they do lightly, but it’s a necessary measure to help save all the animals they can.

The Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society has issued a code red at their facility after reaching 480 animals in their care as of 3 p.m., July 25. This means that every kennel is holding at least one animal.

Operations Manager Brandon Taylor told News 40 that by no means would they euthanize animals due to lack of space and that they “will figure something out” whether it be extra kennels or utilizing their partnerships with rescue organizations to find homes for their sheltered animals.

But still a threat remains to those of that 480 that are on the actual property, with overcrowding comes a stressful environment and could result in dogs biting each other or quick spread of disease.

The shelter is discounting adoptions due to the imbalance of intake and adoptions over the past few weeks.
