New roundabout project to start at Westen Street and Ashley Circle
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The City of Bowling Green is making traffic improvements at the intersection of Westen Street, and Ashley Circle is being replaced with a roundabout.
The traffic impact is minimal as the construction begins, but it will increase as the project progresses.
The construction will feature a new roundabout, sidewalk, and an ADA compliant handicap ramp.
The City of Bowling Green’s public works director, Andy Souza, says, “So I know the last thing people want to see in the summer is more construction, but I’m telling you we’re doing this for the best of the city so we can get people safely and efficiently through. The idea for this project is to put two roundabouts on Westen so that we can move traffic more efficiently without having all the stop signs that everybody hates. That’s the idea, to get traffic through as safely as we can.”
Once construction on Ashley Circle and Westen Street is finished this September, construction on another roundabout will begin on Patrick Way and Westen Street.
Flaggers will keep traffic flowing during construction, but you are encouraged to avoid this area if possible.
