BGPD offers safe exchange zone
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If you’re looking for a safe space to exchange items bought online, the Bowling Green Police Department has the perfect spot.
Exchanges like those from Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist are welcome, as well as custody swaps.
The safe exchange zone is a well lit area with 24-hour surveillance, and it is located on the left side of the police department building with two parking spots available.
BGPD’s public information officer, Ronnie Ward, says that a safe location to exchange goods was needed after a couple of robberies.
“People who have purchased items on a social site and then they showed up and they got robbed. And so we decided let’s make an area that people could come and feel safe,” Ward says.
If you are not in the Bowling Green area, police advise you to always choose a safe location, like a police department, to exchange any items.
