Animal welfare education workshop addresses how to find shelter volunteers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Animal shelter directors gathered in Bowling Green for the Humane Education Workshop.

The workshop was held at the Davis and Mosby Center, which is part of the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society.

Some topics discussed included how shelters can get volunteers, what volunteers can do to help our furry friends find homes and what to do in the case of a sick animal.

Workshop presenters emphasized that being well informed on animal welfare is the key to getting more people interested in volunteering at shelters.

“It’s something that we’re teaching because by educating, we’re creating volunteers. We’re creating people who are supporting our shelters and better animal welfare for our animals,” Education Center coordinator of the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society Tracy Moser said.

The Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society will be hosting a seminar on Kentucky animal welfare laws Dec. 6.
