National Afterschool Professional Appreciation Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The National Afterschool Association wants the country to take notice to those who work outside of school hours.

Different organizations and people all over operate after normal grade school hours to provide further educational opportunities to youth and to keep them safe and entertained while parents finish up their work day, and that can be challenging .

News 40 spoke to Community Education, an organization in Bowling Green whose biggest mission is providing afterschool programming for kids. Fortunately, the station was about to speak with Erin Lightfoot, the assistant director of school age programming regarding this special time for people like herself.

Lightfoot said at Community Education, the higher ups are very appreciative of their staff because “They are the program, they’re the ones at the school and building connections with the kids and families…”
