National Pi Day pies galore: Americans celebrate with tasty mathematical treats
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – 3.14, or March 14, marks the celebration of the mathematical constant Pi, and every year our local community joins in the festivities. This year was no exception!
In Bowling Green, Blaze Pizza‘s line was out the door once again, as it does every National Pi Day when they slice their prices to $3.14 per pizza pie.
Blaze Pizza Assistant General Manager Adam Baack said customers are “always asking, ‘How long does this go on?’ We’re here till close, and the line is going to be wrapped around the building until then.”
Pizza pie, to chicken pot pie, store-bought pie, or home-baked dessert pie, it’s clear that Bowling Green loves ‘pie’ with an E.
Further down Scottsville Road, Cocomo Confections’ Preston Sagastegui said, “National Pi Day is a perfect day to try out some new things, some new pies. We have derby pie, peach pie, and every kind of pie you could possibly think of. All amazing!”
Do we have any mathematically talented viewers out there who can rattle off more than the first few digits of pi? Let us know on our social media if you think you can recite the longest sequence of pi.
We may even put you to the test on TV!
