Cave City man gives local students the gift of new clothing

CAVE CITY Ky.- Backpacks, pencils, and notebooks are important for school. Clothing is no different.

Thanks to the owner of Alvey’s Towing Service Ricky Alvey, students in the Caverna Independent School district were able to go shopping at Wal-Mart for new clothes.

Alvey put aside money for families to shop with their kids, and they all jumped on Alvey’s truck afterwards to show off their new merchandise.

Alvey said he’s glad to lend a helping hand.

“It gives me a warm feeling in my heart. It means everything to me. I know when I was young, I was fortunate enough to have good clothes. There were kids that came to school who didn’t have good clothes and I remember back when I went to school how they must’ve felt,” Alvey said.

On Aug. 1, Caverna Readiest will be held at the Cave City Convention Center, where students in the district can receive backpacks full of school supplies.
