Hundreds of children attend Auburn back to school bash
AUBURN Ky.-Journals, headphones, pencils and even haircuts, students who attended the Monday night Auburn back to school bash had a chance to get supplies for the upcoming year.
The back to school bash is held annually by New Friendship Baptist Church in Auburn, and the church members said it never gets old.
“We’re just happy that we can help make these kids’ lives a bit better, maybe give them something they don’t have the opportunity to have without us doing this,” New Friendship Baptist Church youth member Briley Robinson said.
It’s an opportunity that attending parents were thankful for.
“It’s absolutely amazing of them because we could really use it, and that’s exactly what they were able to do for us,” attending parent Jasmine Whitaker said.
From backpacks to balloons, this was an event that let the Auburn children know that they’re valued.
Senior pastor of New Friendship Baptist Church Barry Raley said this was also a great chance to meet with the community.
“Just getting to get out in the community and hang out and talk with folks, it’s incredible. We love it,” Raley said.
The end goal is making sure the kids have a school year that’s a cut above the rest.
“We just care about families and children and knowing that it maybe helps them out even if it’s financially, we just love the fact that we’re maybe making a difference in their life,” Raley said.
