Special Olympics bowlers return to Southern Lanes for tournament

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – More than 150 Special Olympics bowlers visited Southern Lanes in Bowling Green over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Special Olympics Kentucky Area 5 Bowling Tournament brought athletes from Barren, Butler, Christian, Metcalfe, Simpson and Warren Counties together to test out their skills.
Casey Freeman of Franklin and Brianna Goode of Glasgow were among the competition.
Both athletes teamed up to win a gold medal in the doubles competition at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games this past June in Orlando, Florida.
According to Special Olympics Kentucky, bowling is one of the most popular sports Special Olympics Kentucky offers each year, drawing more than 1,500 Special Olympics athletes.
Athletes who won their division and some second-place finishers will qualify to compete in the State Bowling Tournament in Louisville Dec. 3 through 4.
