Construction in downtown Bowling Green continues as city works to improve area

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A Bowling Green construction project has come a long way.

The sidewalks of Fountain Square Park leading to businesses like Spencer’s Coffee are being completed.

The next step involves getting the rest of the sidewalks filled with cement. It’s part of Phase 2 of the construction project. Phase 2 is expected to be finished by fall.

Bowling Green public works director Greg Meredith said it’s an incredible feeling to be standing on a newly constructed sidewalk.

“There’s delineation on where the sidewalk needs to stay open. The park can be used for seating areas for restaurants. It has a really nice feel to it overall,” Meredith said.

The final phase is expected to start this winter, with work expected to be completed between March and April.
